I found a good recipe for eggless mango ice cream on Yummy in my Tummy. I opted for eggless because it has much fewer health risks and my health already isn't that great. Do keep in mind though that eggless ice cream will melt a little sooner than ice cream that is made with egg. For the Dutch people, you can find the recipe on Yummy in my Tummy. For the non Dutchies, I will post a translation here:
Mango Ice Cream: (with real mango, OMG!)
- 1 Mango
- 200ml whipping cream
- 100ml milk
- 70gr sugar
Peel the mango and cut it up. Mash the mango a bit to free up some juices. Warm the mango with the sugar on low heath so the sugar gets absorbed. Keep stirring and let it simmer for about 2 minutes. Remove from the heath and let it cool down. Transfer the mixture into a bowl and add the whipping cream. Mash everything up with a hand held blender. Add the milk and mix. Then add the mixture to the ice machine. It should take about 40 minutes. Then place the ice cream in the freezer for a minimum of 2 hours. Remove 30 minutes before eating.
To me it took me a bit to getting used to the flavor since the ice cream taste very pure, but I will be honest that my taste buds have been spoiled by factory ice cream as well. But I really want to get used to this, because it is so much better for me :) Do you make your own ice cream?

I am sooooooo ready to make my own ice cream. This is the third ice cream post this week. I am totally caving and will be making some -- perhaps tonight. I'll probably make raspberry, because we have fresh ones in the garden right now.
ReplyDeleteLooks so good! My kids love mango, I bet they'd love the ice cream. Definitely time to dust off the ice cream machine now!
ReplyDeleteI haven't made my own icecream for ages.. I'll be trying this out...thanks for sharing ;0)
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to make my own ice cream, but I was afraid it wouldn't turn out right. I really have no excuse as there are some great ice cream makers out there now. I need to just buy one and get on with it, lol.
ReplyDeleteI love mangoes and have had mango sorbet, but never mango ice cream. Yours looks delicious :)
Oh, yum! I just read MANGO SEASON, which is a contemporary novel with some recipes "blended" into it. I have to say, your mango ice cream is more appealing to me :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks absolutely delicious, Uniflame. I actually prefer eggless ice cream, and I adore mangoes, so I will have to give this a try! Thanks!
