Way back when I became pregnant with my first child, I began to be much more aware and consequently critical of the food I ate and prepared for my husband and myself. I buy organic when I can, avoid processed and packaged foods and mixes, and generally try to make everything from scratch from as close to "whole foods" as possible when I can. I am by no means absolutely strict about this, but I know I am doing the right thing to do what I can to make sure my family eats healthfully.

Thanks for the great recipes!Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00420773211895134710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7340014329368678508.post-88296295955152317712011-12-03T23:53:19.244+01:002011-12-03T23:53:19.244+01:00I cook without mixes whenever possible. I do love to buy pataks curry out of a jar, but if you look at the ingredient list, there is nothing weird in there. So if I happen to buy a mix, I always read the labels. I make most things myself these days :)

@Caite: You did use a key word here: Now and then :) I find that a lot of people are relying on mixes daily and that isn't very good for your health. But I too think there is nothing wrong with using one now and then :)Uniflamehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08181945318301274101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7340014329368678508.post-17115373131855679152011-12-03T13:11:03.915+01:002011-12-03T13:11:03.915+01:00I try to avoid mixes as much as possible but I do ...I try to avoid mixes as much as possible but I do buy curry pastes and some other sauces. I love how Karin focuses on cooking without storebought mixes: food tastes better (and is usually cheaper and healthier) when the dishes are made from scratch! :DChinoiserieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16676489630557961558noreply@blogger.com
